It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

I do not claim to be a connoisseur of many things...in fact I would make that claim of only one thing...Christmas music!  While humility may rule the day with other areas of my life...in this one thing I am a down-right braggart.  I am very, very proud of my Christmas music collection...and since this is the season of giving I want to give you a gift...a list of my top 30 Christmas songs (not in order...that would just be too hard!):

God Rest Ye merry Gentlemen - Barenaked Ladies & Sarah McLaughlin
(Pure.joy.)

All I Want for Christmas is You - Mariah Carey

Litte St. Nick - The Muppets
(You must listen for Animal in the background... genius)

Snowfall - Ingrid Michaelson
(Perfect for a cuddle by the fire).

The First Noel - In Mansions

Silver Bells - Harry Connick Jr.
(It's not Christmas without Harry)

O Come, O Come Emmanuel - Enya

Come Thou Long Expected Jesus - Daniel Renstrom
(Advent needs a shout-out too...)

Mr. Heat Miser - Big Voo Doo Daddies
(so much fun!)

White Christmas - The Drifters

Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Darlene Love

Joy (to the World) - Oh, Starling
(This rendition embodies the joy of the season for me)

River - Robert Downey Jr.
(yes - that Robert Downey Jr.)

Why Can't It Be Christmas Time All Year - Rosie Thomas

Spotlight on Christmas - Rufus Wainwright

Come on! Let's Boogey to the Elf Dance - Sufjan Stevens
(not only is it a great song - it brilliantly combines the complexities of the season...)

Angels We Have Heard on High - Corey Crowder
(toe-tappin')

Come - Oh, Starling
(you must listen to this)

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Judy Garland
(from one of my all-time favorite movies - Meet Me In St. Louis)

Ave Maria - Linda Eder

Hallelujah (Light Has Come) - BarlowGirl
(so powerful - so worshipful)

Silent Night - House of Heroes
(seriously - this is a hard song to make hip...they have done it)

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - John Mellencamp

Blue Christmas - Joshua James

Drummer Boy - In Mansions
(I am not normally a fan of this song...but I really like this version)

Fall In Love with Me on Christmas - Josh Kelley

Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town - Bruce Springsteen
(The Boss rocks this song out)

Lonely Without You this Christmas - Mick Jagger & Jennifer Hudson

Winterlove - Parachute

Merry Christmas.
